The first stamp of Independent India was the National Flag stamp issued on 21 November 1947. It was followed by the National Emblem and Airplane issues of 15 December 1947. These three issues constitute the Jai Hind set. Each was printed on Multiple Star watermark carried over from the British era. Inverted Watermark error is found on the National Flag issue.
The only notable constant variety found in these stamps is the Comma over Seven flaw found in the 6/6 position of the National Flag sheet. Thus, the most impressive error and variety of the set is the Comma variety in stamps printed on inverted watermark paper.
Also, in the Talwar collection, there is a complete sheet that does not have the variety and it was a subject of Ashish Talwar’s article that can be seen in the Jai Hind Philately Research section of this website.

The Comma Variety is supposed to occur on 6/6 position of every sheet but in this case it doesn’t. Thus this sheet is a variety because it does not have the variety! One of only 2 such sheets seen. For further details refer to Comma article in Jai Hind Philatelic Research section.
